Wanted
We have put together a new classifieds for
TheCarSource.com. It is automated allowing users wanting to post their
ads to do so themselves. In order to do this we had to set some rules
and standards. Here is a list that you should review if you are posting
an ad or wanting to know how the system works.
-
The Car Wanted with 6 lines of text ads are free to post
and view, but you must register to use the ads. You can use any user
name. The system will email you a password for security reasons.
When you come back you can change your password to one of your
choice.
-
The ad will remain available for 3 weeks. You can renew the ad
prior to that time for another three weeks. At the end of the three
weeks an email will be sent to the registered email address
reminding you that your ad is going to expire.
-
When someone responds to your ad, the system will email you
that you have some interest in your ad. To view the response to your
ad you will need to come back to site. We chose to do this to
protect the owners. If you as a seller desire you can always include
your contact information in your ad, or you can choose to not do
that.
-
When you post an ad it goes into a general database on our
server. You will notice a series of questions. Please answer them
all as you post your car. On the color, we chose to narrow the color
selection down for buyers looking for a specific color car, you will
be able to list the actual color name in a separate field, but do
choose the closest color for general use.
-
If you want a car that does not fit the existing models you can
put your model in the "alternate model" field. However, be
real specific. This database searches for specific information. If
you want a "1969 GT 500 Shelby Mustang" and choose to ask
for a "1969 Shelby Cobra GT 500", someone with your
desired model car will not find it without a listing of ALL cars for
sale. I will try to monitor the model names for consistency.
-
Correct body style is important. What is the body style? Note
that I have included fastback and sportroof. Ford started calling
the fastbacks sportroofs in 1969. Either choice will work unless
your seller is searching for a "1969 sportroof" and you
called your car a "1969 fastback." Then a search will
reveal no matches. A general search will show it, or a search for
all 1969's.
-
When you find your car, please notify us that you did and what
the selling price was. We want to keep statistics on what the market
is for these cars to help buyers and sellers know what market price
is.
