Top 5 Best Garage Refrigerators You Should Buy in 2021 Review

1 BLACK+DECKER BCRK25B Compact Refrigerator Energy Star Single Door Mini Fridge with Freezer – Best Quiet Garage Refrigerator

Don’t lose your cool

Let’s kick things off with this Black + Decker compact fridge. Measuring just 17.5 by 18.5 by 26.6 inches, it really saves on space! It can tuck unobtrusively under the work bench or sit snugly in the corner.

But that doesn’t mean it lacks capacity! There are about 2.5 cu ft inside. That’s enough to fit around 20 500ml bottles.

What storage options does it have?

The main compartment has two large shelves. They can be removed to provide extra space or to make cleaning easier. Then in the door, we get a smaller storage shelf, plus a two-liter bottle holder and a dispenser that will take five standard-sized cans.

Above those big shelves is a freezer compartment. 12.8 inches wide and 4.6 inches tall, there’s ample room for plenty of frozen treats. There’s even an ice-cube tray included for when it’s time to freshen your drink.

Can I control the temperature?

You sure can! Just inside the door, there’s an easy-to-read dial. It goes all the way down to 32 °F for when you want to keep things really frosty!

However, there is an issue with that control. It’s not completely accurate all the time. This mini fridge tends to run cold, so you’ll need to keep a close eye on it to stop all your bottles from freezing.

Are there any other problems?

Not at all! And even if there are, it doesn’t really matter. This option comes with a one-year and parts and labor warranty, as well as a two-year compressor warranty.

There’s a lot to like here. The door is reversible, the storage options are innovative, and at 45 dB, it’s almost soundless. It’s just a shame that the temperature control lets it down.

BLACK+DECKER BCRK25B Compact Refrigerator Energy Star Single Door Mini Fridge with Freezer

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

  • Decent warranty.
  • Great use of space.
  • Extremely quiet.

  • Heat control problems.

2 Midea 3.1 Cu. Ft. Compact Refrigerator, WHD-113FSS1 – Stainless Steel – Best Capacity Garage Refrigerator

Cool Hand Luke

Up next in our quest for the best garage refrigerator is this Midea fridge. Since 1968, this iconic brand has been at the forefront of innovative home appliance design.

Can it live up to their reputation?

While this is a compact refrigerator, it’s not as small as many of the others in this review. It stands at almost 33 inches tall and 18.5 by 19.37 inches deep. It isn’t as big as the full-sized cooler in your kitchen, but it’s not a discreet item either.

But that means we get so much more space inside! This has a huge 3.1 cu ft capacity! Add on the 0.92 cu ft freezer, and you’re got a refrigerator with room for everything you could possibly need!

Is it too big for a garage?

We don’t think so. It may be on the large side, but that doesn’t mean it won’t fit in a corner somewhere. And besides, the adjustable legs can alter the height a little, plus the reversible door can be hung either way for easy access from any angle.

And we just love all that storage space! Not only are there two removable shelves, but we also get a salad crisper in the bottom too. Then in the door, we find bottle storage racks, another small shelf, and even a can dispenser.

That sounds great! What’s the catch?

High quality comes with a high price tag. This isn’t the cheapest option around! We might get a lot of room, but we have to pay for it.

But with standards like these, maybe it’s worth it?

Midea 3.1 Cu. Ft. Compact Refrigerator, WHD-113FSS1 - Stainless Steel

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

  • Incredibly roomy.
  • Selection of racks, drawers, and shelves.
  • Energy star rated.

  • Slightly pricy.

3 Bull Outdoor Products 11001 Stainless Steel Front Panel Refrigerator – Best Premium Garage Refrigerator

Daddy cool

Our next contender in our Best Garage Refrigerators review is another heavy-hitter! This is a big option. It offers a huge 4.4 cu ft of space!

That capacity is shared between the main chamber and the door. We get three adjustable shelves plus a salad drawer in the biggest part. Then the door boasts another three smaller shelves and a can dispenser, too.

That sounds like it’ll take up a lot of space!

We can’t deny, it is bigger than most mini fridges. Measuring roughly 33 by 21 by 20.5 inches, it is on the large side. If you’re looking for something that will sit under a work surface, this isn’t it.

Having said that, it isn’t too obtrusive. That stainless steel finish is subtle, understated, and won’t draw too much attention. And thanks to its height, you could use the top as another space to work on or store things.

And there are other aspects that help, too

The back is designed to lie flush against the wall so it won’t stick out awkwardly. The door is reversible, so can be hung from the left or the right. It might be big but it does try its best to minimize the space it takes up.

Plus, it only weighs 62 pounds. We expected it to be much heavier than that! If it’s in the way, you can easily move it thanks to its lack of weight.

What’s the downside?

This (not so) mini fridge is eye-wateringly expensive! It’s a really pricy option. You’ll need deep pockets if this is the refrigerator you go for.

Bull Outdoor Products 11001 Stainless Steel Front Panel Refrigerator

Our rating:4.2 out of 5 stars (4.2 / 5)

  • Massive capacity.
  • Space-saving measures.
  • Light.

  • Extremely costly.
  • Too big for some garages.

4 RCA RFR320-B-Black-COM RFR321 Mini Refrigerator, 3.2 Cu Ft Fridge, Black, CU.FT – Best Looking Garage Refrigerator

Cool as a cucumber

Our penultimate entry is a stylish option. In classic, time-honored black, this fridge will look the part in any garage. It even looks great sitting under the desk in an office or dorm room.

The flush back only adds to those stunning good looks. This one sits flatly against the wall. It has an invisible handle, too, ensuring some beautiful, sleek lines.

Is it as good as it looks?

Thanks to compressor cooling, this refrigerator works well in all temperatures. Even on the hottest of days, you can be sure your drinks will be kept cool. And we can change the level of heat with a handy adjustable thermostat.

That’s not the only part that can be adjusted. The legs can be altered too. Raise or lower your mini fridge depending on where you plan to put it.

Need ice?

No problem! The freezer is pretty roomy. It has a capacity of 0.2 cu ft, more than enough space for ice cubes, popsicles, or even a couple of frozen dinners!

Below that freezer in the main compartment, the storage options are impressive. There’s a large space at the bottom, with two movable racks above it. Then in the door, we get a can dispenser as well as an additional three shelves of various sizes.

This sounds too good to be true! Is it?

Though that compressor works well in the short-term, it doesn’t last long enough. You don’t want to be running this continuously as it runs the risk of burning out quickly. Plus, it’s a little on the noisy side as well.

RCA RFR320-B-Black-COM RFR321 Mini Refrigerator, 3.2 Cu Ft Fridge, Black, CU.FT

Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

  • Stunning yet subtle.
  • Fantastic storage options.
  • Reasonable price.

  • Lacks durability.

5 hOmeLabs Beverage Refrigerator and Cooler – Best Garage Refrigerator for Cans

Cool runnings

And finally, we come to this HomeLabs beverage refrigerator. At 3.2 cu ft, there’s ample capacity to chill everything you need. In fact, this can hold up to a whopping 120 standard-sized cans!

But this fridge is different…

If you’ve ever wanted a home bar, then this is the cooler for you. With an opaque door, it looks exactly like the kind of refrigerator you’d find in your local watering hole. Professional and stylish, it brings a touch of class to the corner of the garage.

That glass door gives us a clear view of what’s inside. Plus, it’s backed up by a white LED bulb that powerfully illuminates the interior. You’ll be able to tell exactly what’s in the cooler with just a quick glance.

Is there space for anything other than cans?

Of course, there is! There are three shelves here, meaning there’s space for all kinds of beverages. And even better, they’re removable, so you can make room for a few bottles of wine!

What’s the best part?

It comes with an automatic defrosting function. Basically, this means the fridge will never get too cold. As soon as it senses that the temperature hits freezing point, this feature kicks in to prevent any ice from forming.

But on the downside, there’s no ice anywhere else in this machine either. We don’t get a freezer compartment here. You’ll need to buy a separate piece of equipment if you want to keep ice cubes on hand.

So good, but…

This is almost the perfect mini fridge! It looks fabulous, and we love the defrost function. So, what a pity that it lacks a freezer section!

hOmeLabs Beverage Refrigerator and Cooler

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

  • Elegant.
  • Roomy.
  • Stops over-freezing.

  • No freezer.

Best Garage Refrigerators Buying Guide

Best Garage Refrigerators Review

When choosing the best refrigerator for garage, there’s a lot to think about. After all, we’ve seen the huge range of options currently available. So, what do we need to consider?

Location location location

How big is your garage? And where in it are you planning to put the fridge? We have to answer these questions before we even start looking for the cooler.

If the garage is small, then you don’t want something that takes up too much space. It will just end up becoming an annoyance. Similarly, if your garage is huge, then you don’t want something too small as it might end up looking a bit silly surrounded by all that space!

If it’s going against a wall or in a corner, find one that has a flush back. That will allow it to sit closely against the wall without protruding. Or if it’s going under the work bench, measure the height before buying to make sure it will fit.

Now let’s talk storage

Yes, these are small refrigerators. But that doesn’t mean choosing something tiny! We want one that’s capable of holding more than just a couple of cans, so look for something with a minimum of 2.5 cu ft.

Inside there should be a variety of places to keep your food and beverages. A couple of shelves or racks would be nice, as would a drawer if you’re keeping vegetables in there. Of course, those racks should be adjustable to accommodate items of different sizes.

It should make the most of the door, too. Smaller shelves with drink holders are what we’re looking for here. If there’s a can dispenser, it should be able to take at least five cans.

And it should go without saying that we want a freezer compartment as well!

How about temperature?

Obviously, it needs to keep things nice and cool. But not everything has to be super frosty. A refrigerator with an adjustable thermostat is the way to go.

The temperature is not the only thing we should be able to change. It would be great if the legs could move to give a little more or less height. A reversible door is an awesome idea, too, in case you need to open it the other way.

And finally…

Whenever we’re shopping, it’s always tempting to go for the cheapest option. But refrigerators are worth splashing the cash for. If something has a low price tag, that might well be a reflection on the quality.
