1 Hopkins 60100VA nVISION Back Up Sensor System – Best Licence Plate Mount Parking Sensors

The Hopkins nVision sensor system is up first in this best sensors for accurate parking roundup. This system features two backup sensors integrated into a license plate type frame.

How does that work?

As you reverse your vehicle, the sensors will activate once they are within five and a half feet of an obstacle. The included speaker will increasingly beep at you until you are one foot away from something and then produce a solid tone.

This kit also acts as a mounting bracket for your license plate. With this on your vehicle, you will only notice the sensors located at your license plate’s top corners.

Installation…

The nVision sensor system isn’t the easiest to install and requires you to drill into the trunk of your vehicle. With the backup sensor in hand, you will notice a coaxial-type connection that will have a speaker, ground, and power wire on it.

You will need to remove your trunk’s interior lining and find a clear path to drill a hole allowing all the wiring to pass through. With the hole drilled, the wiring passed through, and the wiring adapter connected, you will want to locate the circuit used for your reverse light. This circuit will have a ground and power wire that you will splice into.

Couplings included…

Included in this kit are a couple of easy splice couplings that will allow you to connect the wires without stripping them. To determine which wire is live or ground, you will want to use a Tester screwdriver.

After that, you will want to replace the interior lining and run the alarm speaker wire through it as well. Connect up the speaker and mount it on the trunk linings exterior, and you are all set.

Hopkins 60100VA nVISION Back Up Sensor System

Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros

  • Can mount your license plate in it.
  • Easy to hear alarm.
  • Three different zones of sensitivity.
  • Precise parking.

Cons

  • It only comes with two sensors.

2 Frostory Car Reverse Backup Parking Sensor Radar System – Best Cold Climate Parking Sensors

This next parking sensor comes from Frostory. Upon taking this product out of its box, you will notice four sensors, a speaker, and a control module.

You will want to mount this control module in your trunk within reach of your reverse light’s circuitry so it can receive power from it. Then allocate a spot for the speaker to be placed.

Also included with the sensor kit is a circular hole saw that you could connect to a drill. Once you determine where you want to mount the four sensors on your bumper, you can use this saw to cut out mounting holes for the sensors.

That’s not all…

The four included sensors mount flush to your bumper and are water-resistant. They can operate in forty below temperatures and aren’t prone to freezing over.

The speaker, power, and sensor wiring all have a plug and play type design, allowing you to connect them to the control module easily.

Nice long wiring…

All of the wiring on hand is also exceptionally long. Depending on the size of your particular car, you might be able to mount the speaker up next to the driver. This is a good thing since the speaker isn’t as loud as we would have liked it to have been.

Putting your vehicle into reverse will automatically activate the system, and it will begin beeping when you are within five feet of anything. Like other sensors, the beeping will increase the closer you get to obstructions.

Frostory Car Reverse Backup Parking Sensor Radar System

Our rating:4.2 out of 5 stars (4.2 / 5)

Pros

  • Plug and play wiring.
  • Comes with a hole saw.
  • Sensors are resistant to water.

Cons

  • The speaker could be much louder.

3 4 Parking Car Parking Sensor Kit LED Display View Reverse Backup Radar System Sensor – Best Budget Parking Sensor LED Control Unit

Some parking sensors not only come with an alarm but also a digital display. This four-sensor kit from Syneticusa is a prime example. Like the previous kit we looked at, this one also uses a central control unit that will need to be powered by your reverse light’s circuitry.

Who is this for?

The individual sensors are black in color and have nine feet of wiring on hand. This should allow you to wire this kit up to larger vehicles like a truck, for example.

One thing you won’t notice on this kit is a dedicated speaker alarm that needs to be mounted separately. Instead, it uses the LED display with an integrated alarm to inform you of the distance between the rear of your car and any objects.

Once you put your vehicle in reverse, the included display will light up. This digital display will count down the distance between you and the nearest object and beep as you reverse.

Take note…

You will want to mount this display on your dashboard if at all possible. Thankfully, the included wiring for the display is fifteen feet long. This should be enough for you to not only mount it on your dash but to conceal any excess wiring behind your vehicle’s trim as well.

With everything set up, we found the accuracy of this system to be a bit hit or miss, though. It just doesn’t seem to pick up small objects that well.

Inexpensive, but still a good option…

You may also notice a delay from the time you put your car in park and when the system stops sounding. Overall, this speaker still performs adequately, even though it is the cheapest one we will be looking at today.

4 Parking Car Parking Sensor Kit LED Display View Reverse Backup Radar System Sensor

Our rating:4.2 out of 5 stars (4.2 / 5)

Pros

  • Very inexpensive.
  • Comes with an LED.

Cons

  • Only come in black.
  • Could be more sensitive.

4 LED Display Parking Sensor,Car Reverse Backup Radar System – Best Radar Parking Sensor LED Control Unit

Another worthy competitor is this four-sensor kit from DALLUX. Their PS2000 model sensor kit is another to offer a dash-mounted display with an integrated alarm.

The sensors on offer will pick up obstructions from over five feet away. While reversing, the very loud integrated alarm will notify you of when to stop if you choose not to look at the display.

Lights…

The included display will not only show you the distance in meters from the nearest object, but it will also illuminate bars on each side of it. These bars will move inwards from the sides of the display, changing from green to red when your bumper is within a foot of something.

Accurate and safe…

If you aren’t backing in straight, they will also indicate whether the vehicle’s left or right is closer to any impediments as well. This allows for even more accuracy when backing up, especially if you have cars on either side of you.

You need to be very precise when cutting out the mounting holes for the sensors, though. In our opinion, the included saw’s diameter is a tad too big, and you may have difficulty securing your sensors properly.

LED Display Parking Sensor,Car Reverse Backup Radar System

Our rating:3.7 out of 5 stars (3.7 / 5)

Pros

  • Clear bar indicators on display.
  • Measures right/left sides of the vehicle independently.
  • Can turn audible alarm off.

Cons

  • The sensors don’t mount that securely.

5 KKmoon Front and Rear Car Reverse Backup Radar System – Most Accurate Parking Sensor LED Unit

This KKmoon parking sensor kit comes with four rear and four front sensors. They will provide you protection no matter the direction you pull in to park your vehicle.

Matrix display…

It comes with an LED matrix display with an integrated alarm. The center of this display has a diagram of a car with four zones dedicated to both the front and the rear sensors.

On the left side of the display, it will show a numerical distance for obstacles in front of your vehicle. You will find an additional numerical display for your rear sensors on the right side of the screen as well. Along the top of the display is a built-in speaker. You can adjust the volume of the speaker or turn it off entirely via the easy-to-reach buttons on the side of the unit.

Sensor range…

The front and rear sensors do not have the same sensor range as one another. The rear sensors will start picking up obstacles from as far as seven feet away. On the other hand, the front sensors have a maximum distance of four feet. They are both very sensitive at picking up small objects just as easily, though.

A little more work to install…

Since you will need to mount sensors at both the front and rear of your vehicle, that means you will need to drill twice as many holes and deal with twice as many wires.

This makes installation a tad more difficult because you will need to mount the control unit in a place where all the wires can reach.

KKmoon Front and Rear Car Reverse Backup Radar System

Our rating:4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Pros

  • Comes with front and rear sensors.
  • Matrix display for numerical readouts.
  • Can adjust speaker volume.

Cons

  • Installation is a rather lengthy process.

6 SHINEHOME 4 PCS PDC Parking Assist Sensor – Best Replacement Parking Sensors for Dodge

If you own a Dodge Charger or Ram from 2011 to 2014, these sensors from SHINEHOME will be a perfect fit, literally. That is because they are meant to replace any faulty stock sensors you may have. They can also fit into a variety of other Dodge vehicles, and even some Chrysler and Jeep ones as well. To make certain they are compatible with your car; you will want to check your owner’s manual.

That being said, these sensors come in a pack of four that are made to meet OEM specifications. They can be used to replace faulty sensors on the front or the rear of your vehicle.

Plug and play…

Installing these sensors is a relatively straightforward process as long as you can get your vehicle on a lift. This is because you will need access to the inside of your bumper.

With the vehicle lifted, you should be able to easily see both the front and rear sensor mounting adapters behind the bumper. On each adapter, you will notice a wiring harness. Simply unplug this wiring harness and pop out the old sensor with a screwdriver. Then pop the new sensor from SHINEHOME in place and connect the wiring harness back up to it.

No drilling…

Thanks to these sensors’ plug and play type design, you don’t have to worry about drilling into your bumper or splicing any wires. Once they are installed, they will work just like your stock sensors would.

SHINEHOME 4 PCS PDC Parking Assist Sensor

Our rating:4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Pros

  • Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler compatible.
  • Plug and play.
  • Can replace front or rear sensors.

7 STKR Concepts 00-246 Adjustable Garage Parking Sensor Aid – Best Garage Parking Sensors

The final product that we’re going to look at comes from STKR Concepts. This sensor is unique to this review because it doesn’t actually integrate into your vehicle.

Instead, this product acts just like a stoplight would. As you pull your vehicle into your garage, the stoplight shaped indicator will change from green to yellow and then to red.

Adjustability…

Located just below the stoplight type indicator, you will notice a small button. With your car in place, you can press this button to set the specific distance you want to stop from the wall. This allows for a high level of adjustment and allows you to still be able to walk around your car when it’s parked, for instance.

Another great thing this product offers is an integrated light just above the sensor itself. This light will automatically light up for two minutes before turning off on its own.

Very accurate…

While this product is very accurate and easy to use, it is not portable. Once you stick this sensor to the wall, you will most likely never need to move it again.

Also, if you have two different sized vehicles, this sensor might not work correctly with the one that it wasn’t calibrated initially with.

STKR Concepts 00-246 Adjustable Garage Parking Sensor Aid

Our rating:3.9 out of 5 stars (3.9 / 5)

Pros

  • Stopping distance from 6-ft to 6-in.
  • Easy to mount with double-sided tape.
  • Comes with automatic light for darkness.

Cons

  • Four AAA batteries needed are not included.

Best Parking Sensors Buying Guide

Best Parking Sensors Review

Adding parking sensors to your vehicle requires a bit of planning before doing so. You will first want to determine how many sensors you need.

Some parking sensors only come in quantities of two. While two sensors are better than no sensors, they won’t be able to cover the entirety of your bumper as you back in.

You may need a kit…

If you buy a parking sensor kit that comes with four sensors, you will be able to cover more of your vehicle’s blind spots, for example.

Throughout this review, you will have noticed that not all sensors install the same. Some sensors are made for specific vehicles and plug right into the existing adapter and wiring harness. Others require you to drill holes for you to be able to mount them. They will also require you to connect them to a power source.

It really depends on the kit and your vehicle type…

While some sensor kits might require a single hole to be drilled, some will need four or more holes. This will permanently change your bumper or trunk lid, for instance. To make this a bit easier, sensor manufacturers will often include a hole saw adapter for your drill. This saw will allow you to cut out precise mounting holes.

Once you have your sensors in place, you will need to connect them up to a power source. The easiest power source available for rear sensors will most likely be your rear tail light’s wiring harness.

If you splice into the rear lights harness, then your sensor will activate whenever you put your vehicle in reverse. The same source can usually power front sensors as well, but the sensors will only activate at slower speeds while driving forward.

Then there’s the sensor alert style…

Now depending on the sensor kit you end up with, you will find either a speaker or a display included. The speaker or display will be what alerts you to any obstructions as you reverse or pull forward.

You will want to take the size of your vehicle into consideration when you mount the speaker or display. Kits that only come with a speaker will typically need to be placed in your trunk.

If your kit comes with a display, you will want to mount it on your dashboard if possible. This will vary, though, based on the size of your vehicle and the amount of wiring included.

A sensor system that comes with a display will often be the easiest to use. This is because the display will usually provide a digital readout of the nearest object to your bumper.

But, it may not suit some…

If you don’t want to alter your vehicle permanently, you can use another type of sensor. We are talking about stationary sensors that will mount in your garage. These types of sensors are relatively straightforward to install and often look like a stoplight. As you pull into your garage, the stoplight will change color depending on your distance from it.

You will calibrate this type of sensor to the bumper of a specific vehicle. They are very accurate, but since they aren’t portable, your car won’t have any kind of parking aid when you’re away from your garage.

No matter what type of sensor system you choose, you will find it much easier to reverse into tight spots. Parking sensors aren’t expensive and can save you from a costly fender bender.
