Top 8 Best Pressure Washers for Cars in 2021 Review
1 Sun Joe 14.5-Amp Electric Pressure Washer – Best Car Pressure Washer Kit
The Sun Joe pressure washer is reasonably priced and offers plenty of cleaning power and accessories as part of the package. It has a 1,800-watt motor that can generate 1.76 gallons per minute (GPM) at 2030psi. It can cope with water up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
Loads of accessories in this kit…
The accessories can all be neatly stored onboard. Included in the package are five quick-connect spray tips, a 20-foot hose, and a trigger gun. However, a garden hose adaptor is not included in this package.
Additionally, the pressure cleaner has two removable 900ml detergent tanks. These can be filled with different types of detergent. Therefore, this is a handy addition when you want to tackle different kinds of cleaning jobs on the same vehicle.
Automatic pump shut off…
Another useful feature is the automatic pump shut off mechanism. This will stop the pump as soon as the trigger is released. The result is that you save power, and you also extend the life of your pump.
Using one of the five different quick-connect spray tips, you can tackle any cleaning job that’s likely to be encountered on your vehicle. Light to heavy-duty cleaning can all be taken in its stride.
Versatile and practical…
Moreover, this pressure washer can be used on all those jobs around the yard as well as for cleaning your car, RV, truck, motorcycle, or bicycle. It also has a generous 35-foot power cord so that you’re not left searching around for your power extension cable. This power cord is GCFI protected for your extra safety.
- Five quick-connect spray nozzles.
- Two removable detergent tanks.
- Automatic pump shut-off.
- 1,800 watts of power.
- Long power cord.
- No hose-reel.
2 GreenWorks 1600 PSI 13 Amp 1.2 GPM Pressure Washer – Best Budget Pressure Washer for Car
This is an inexpensive pressure washer. Although it doesn’t have as many accessories and isn’t as powerful as some of the more expensive options, it still has plenty of cleaning power. The GreenWorks pressure washer will efficiently clean even the dirtiest of cars.
It can push out 1.2 GPM at a pressure of 1,600 psi.
It comes with two nozzles, a 20-foot high-pressure hose, a wand and trigger gun, and a detachable detergent bottle. The power cable is 35-feet long, which should be long enough for cleaning your cars and other vehicles. Additionally, the cable is GCFI protected.
If you choose to use the detergent bottle, it can be attached to the end of the wand closest to the nozzle. Frankly, it would be better if it was integrated into the machine as it does make the wand feel heavy and difficult to maneuver.
Who is this ideal for?
It’s best suited for cleaning cars, patio furniture, fencing, and decks. Therefore, if you need a pressure washer for more stubborn jobs that involve cleaning garage floors, driveways, or brick, this won’t be powerful enough and isn’t the right choice for you.
However, since this is a review for the best pressure washers for cars, that’s not necessarily a deal-breaker as it’s perfectly suitable for cleaning cars. Therefore, if you can get over the detergent bottle’s position, it’s a pressure washer that’s well worth considering.
- Includes two quick-connect spray nozzles.
- Long GCFI protected power cord.
- Suitable for all vehicles.
- Position of the detergent bottle.
- Cannot be used for more stubborn jobs.
3 PAXCESS 1.85 GPM High-Pressure Power Washer Machine – Best Pressure Washer for Cars and Garages
The PAXCESS Electric pressure washer has plenty of power for washing your car and tackling more difficult jobs around the home. As well as being suitable for cleaning your cars or vehicles, it can also be put to work on cleaning the dirt and grime off garage floors and driveways.
It has a 1,800-watt motor that can generate 1.85 GPM at a pressure of 2,150 psi. We’re sure you’ll agree that’s more than enough for anything you’re ever likely to need.
It comes with a 26-foot pressure hose. That’s a good start as it’s a few feet longer than most of its competitors. Even better, it has an in-built hose reel that helps keep things nice and tidy, either in use or for storage.
You also get a trigger gun with an adjustable nozzle. You can adjust it to give you either high or low pressure or a foam pattern. This is a significant advantage as you don’t have to keep changing the nozzles for different jobs. It also means you’ll never have to worry about losing one of them.
The trigger gun has an auto cut-off link to the pump, so when it’s not deployed, the pump will switch off. A great power saver and a way to extend the life of the pump too.
Other features we like include the sturdy metal connector for the water inlet. Plus, the built-in detergent bottle. This sits neatly away at the base of the washer. It’s also quick and easy to remove when you need to top it up or add a different detergent.
- Adjustable nozzle.
- Built-in hose reel.
- Integrated detergent bottle.
- Can generate 1.85 GPM.
- Metal connector for water inlet.
- Auto pump cut-off.
- No dual detergent bottles.
4 Karcher K2 Car Care Kit Electric Power Pressure Washer – Most Compact Pressure Washer for Car
This is both the smallest and least expensive of the Karcher pressure washer range. However, the good news is that although it’s an entry-level machine, it still has the same build quality as the rest of their line-up.
Are you looking for something highly portable?
One of the big advantages of measuring just 39cm x 22cm x 18 cm and weighing only 4kg is that it’s easy to carry and move around. In a way, this is just as well since it doesn’t have any wheels. Honestly, we’d prefer it to have wheels, but it’s light enough not to be too big of an issue.
It has enough power to generate 1600psi and pump out 1.25GPM. For a small washer, this is very respectable. Most importantly, it’s more than sufficient to clean all parts of your car as well as your decking and garden furniture. However, unfortunately, though not surprisingly, concrete floors, driveways, and garage floors are likely to prove too much for this little cleaner.
Accessories include an attachable detergent bottle, a wand, trigger gun, and soft bristle brush. The fact is that there are not many accessories though there are still enough for most jobs.
The trigger gun and wand are light and easy to use. The wand has an adjustable nozzle at the end, which makes it easy to adjust pressure flows. The attachable soft brush is also an excellent addition and gives you a few extra options that you don’t get with a lot of the more expensive pressure washers.
So, what about the shortcomings?
One of the biggest moans is that the detergent bottle is too small. It holds minimal detergent and needs filling regularly on the bigger jobs.
Another complaint is that the length of the hose and cable is so short. The hose measures just three meters, which is two meters shorter than a lot of similarly priced washers. Additionally, the cable is only five meters. In our opinion, that’s way too short. The likelihood is that you’ll need an extension cable.
Our final niggle, and possibly the biggest, is that it’s noisy. It makes an awful racket for such a small machine. Not much fun if you need to use it for an extended period.
- Small and compact.
- Adjustable nozzle.
- Attachable soft brush.
- No wheels.
- Short hose and cable.
- Small detergent bottle.
5 Stanley SHP2150 Electric Pressure Washer – Best Premium Pressure Washer for Car
This is a high-quality pressure washer from an international company with a long history of excellence. It’s strong, well-built, and looks and feels like it will be around for a long time. It’s priced slightly over a lot of comparable pressure washers, but the price-premium is undoubtedly worth it.
What do you get for the price?
Although it’s not the most powerful washer, it has a maximum of 2,150psi and can push out 1.4GPM, so it still has sufficient power to tackle garage floors and driveways. That means that it’s plenty good enough to be used on even the most grime-covered vehicle.
This pressure washer features an array of integrated features and accessories that includes professional-grade brass hose connectors. There is also a choice of four quick connection nozzles that are cleverly stored on the trigger-gun handle. Therefore, somewhere that makes them quick to access and difficult to lose.
You also get a long cable with a quick-release hook, a telescopic handle, a 20-foot hose, and wheels. Finally, it has a detergent bottle that fixes onto the end of the wand.
Honestly, though, this last accessory is a little disappointing. This is because we expect the detergent bottle to be integrated into the machine at this kind of price. Additionally, again for the price, a choice of two integrated detergent bottles would have been nice.
Just so easy to use…
Although it doesn’t have as many accessories or features as some other pressure washers, everything is very well designed and integrated. When it comes to simple ease of use, we think this is the best pressure washer for cars in our review.
- Excellent build quality.
- Telescopic handle.
- Quick connection nozzles.
- Quick-release cable hook.
- Easy to use and well-designed.
- No integrated detergent bottle.
6 Westinghouse Electric Pressure Washer – Best Anti-Topple Pressure Washer for Cars
This looks like some kind of quirky robot you’d find on a 1970s Sci-Fi TV show. Most of its odd-looking appearance is down to the fact that it’s built so as not to topple over. Which does make it a little bulky and far from aesthetically pleasing but keeps it upright.
Why’s this so important?
A lot of pressure washers are far too easily tipped over. This makes them, and the accessories that are stored, liable to be broken. Plus, it leaves anything else lying around likely to get broken too. Happily, you’ll never have this problem with the Westinghouse Pressure Washer.
That’s a good start; we’re sure you’ll all agree…
The Westinghouse washer is powerful, at 2030psi, and can generate a healthy 1.76GPM. The upshot is that it has more than enough power to wash and clean your cars, other vehicles, boats, and anything else around your yard.
Our favorite features?
Things we like include the four different nozzles, easy coil hose, storage for hose and cables, and the onboard 600ml detergent tank. The tank undoubtedly makes lighter work of cleaning bigger jobs. We also like the automatic switch-off that saves power and your motor when you’re not deploying the trigger.
Overall, it’s a great pressure washer, but we can’t help thinking that it could have been improved with a slightly longer hose and a marginally larger detergent tank. Improvements to both would make for an even more convincing package.
- Anti-topple design.
- Four detachable nozzles.
- Onboard detergent tank.
- Bulky design.
- Small detergent tank.
7 Homdox 1800W High Car Pressure Washer – Best Value Powerful Car Pressure Washer
This is one of the most powerful options in our review of the Best Car Pressure Washers. It has a 2,850psi pressure rating and can generate a flow rate of 1.7GPM. This means that for vehicles or around the yard, no job will be too big.
Five different nozzles are supplied. These are all color coordinated and are neatly stored on top of the washer. They’re well-placed to make access quick and easy. Also, since they can always be seen, it should make losing them less likely.
The cable and hose lengths are both generous, and we have no complaints with either. The cable measures 33 feet, and the hose 20 feet. Other manufacturers, please take note. Even better is that the hose is stored onboard on a hose reel. The cable is also nicely tucked away on the rear of the machine. Full marks for Homdox here again.
But wait, there’s more…
Other nice touches include a leak protection switch, a safety gun lock, and an automatic off switch to save energy when the trigger is not deployed.
There’s plenty to like about this power washer. You get a lot for your dollars compared to the competition. For budget-conscious shoppers looking for a powerful pressure washer, it’s a good choice.
Tiring and time wasting…
The only genuine complaint we have is that it doesn’t have an integrated detergent tank. Instead, you get a detergent bottle that attaches to the end of the wand. If you have jobs that involve a lot of cleaning and time, this can be tiring. It can also be more time-consuming than it needs to be since you have to change the small attachable bottle more often than if you have a sizeable onboard tank.
- Good value.
- Five different nozzles.
- Onboard hose reel.
- Leak protection switch.
- Small detergent bottle.
8 WHOLESUN High-Pressure Cleaner Machine – Most Powerful Car Pressure Washer
This is definitely the most powerful pressure washer on our list. It operates at 3,000psi and can provide a flow rate of 2.4GPM. What makes this feature all the more impressive for us is that it’s also one of the more affordable machines in our review.
So, other than power, what else does the Wholesun electric pressure washer have to offer?
An intelligent design, for one…
One of the key things we like is that everything is nicely integrated. The 20-foot hose wraps around the hose reel on top of the washer. Then the 33-foot power cord is neatly stored at the rear. The five detachable nozzles are stored at the top, and the gun handles and wand slots securely into the side.
All of this is great, and it’s also nice to see that there’s a storage place for the detergent bottle. What isn’t so good is that it’s just a bottle, and it has to be fixed onto the end of the wand. We’re sure you’ll agree a built-in tank would have been better. However, given the incredibly low price-point, for what is a powerful machine, we can’t complain too much.
A no-nonsense machine…
The Wholesun pressure washer offers most of the features you’ll ever need to wash your cars or for those tricky jobs around the yard. This is a no-nonsense machine that offers outstanding value.
The only major potential drawback is that it’s not a well-known brand. However, you’re even covered here, too, as you get a two-year warranty in the event of something going wrong. Plus, you also have the option of returning it within 30 days, no questions asked, if you’re not completely happy.
- 3,000psi of cleaning power.
- High flow rate.
- Five detachable nozzles.
- Warranty and money-back guarantee.
- No integrated detergent tank.
Best Pressure Washer for Cars Buying Guide
Happily, all these pressure washers have enough power to clean your cars. Even the Karcher K2 Car Care Kit Electric Power Pressure Washer, which has just 1,600psi, has sufficient power to clean an extremely grimy car.
So, the question is, why have more?
The answer is relatively straight forward. In our experience, most pressure washers will be used for a lot more than just cleaning cars. They will be used for cleaning fences, garden furniture, paths, driveways, and garage floors.
Other than for use on cars, if you intend to use your washer on woodwork, a less powerful cleaner will be fine. If you are going to use it for a more rigid surface, you need something with around 2,100 psi. We’d recommend the WHOLESUN 3000PSI Electric Pressure Washer for very stubborn jobs as this is the most powerful pressure washer on our list.
Gallons Per Minute (GPM)
A pressure washer with a higher GPM rate can clean your car more efficiently. If you want to get the job done quickly, a washer with a rating over 1.7GPM is a good choice. The WHOLESUN Pressure Washer again scores full marks as it has a whopping 2.4GPM capability.
Detergent Bottles and Tanks
We favor detergent tanks that are integrated into the machine. This is because they have a larger capacity and also because, unlike bottles, they do not attach to the wand, which makes the wand heavier and more tiring to use. A larger capacity found in tanks also means less time spent changing your detergent.
Which of these won out here?
The ideal pressure washer for cars as far as detergent storage is concerned is the Sun Joe SPX3000-BLK. It has two large 900cc tanks that can be filled with different types of detergent. A clear winner.
Having either multiple nozzles or an adjustable nozzle is essential. These are needed for different tasks. We favor having detachable nozzles as they tend to be more robust. The Stanley SHP2150 Electric Pressure Washer provides a good selection of nozzles that are neatly stored in the handle when not in use.
Hose and Cable Length
Hoses should ideally be at least 20-feet in length. They should also have either reel storage or an integrated hook storage system. We’re not a fan of shorter hoses as it can make the cleaning more awkward than needs be.
Cables should be around 30-feet. Otherwise, there’s a strong chance you’ll need to use an extension cable, which can be cumbersome. Regardless of the cable’s length, a neat storage system on the pressure washer is a must.
